Featuring Atsuko Nishida’s breathtaking Milotic artwork, a distinctive reverse holographic finish, and the beautiful design of the early Nintendo-era Pokémon Trading Card Game, this exceptional collectible captures the artistry and nostalgia of one of Pokémon’s most memorable vintage expansions.
Combining a beloved third-generation Pokémon with the shimmering reverse holographic treatment of EX Hidden Legends, this Milotic represents a wonderful addition to any serious vintage Pokémon collection.
🌊 An Elegant Pokémon from EX Hidden Legends
Released in June 2004, EX Hidden Legends was the fifth expansion of the Pokémon EX Series, introducing collectors to an exciting selection of Pokémon, striking illustrations, and distinctive holographic variations.
The expansion featured legendary Pokémon, powerful Pokémon-ex cards, and memorable artwork inspired by the Hoenn region, establishing itself as an important release from the early Nintendo era.
Among its most beautiful holographic Pokémon stands Milotic, the Tender Pokémon and evolved form of Feebas.
Numbered 12/101, this card features Milotic gracefully moving through a mysterious underwater environment, surrounded by colourful shapes, shimmering highlights, and atmospheric details.
Illustrated by Atsuko Nishida, the artwork beautifully captures Milotic’s graceful appearance, flowing body, and distinctive pink and blue colouring.
The combination of vibrant artwork and elegant character design creates a particularly striking interpretation of one of Hoenn’s most recognisable Pokémon.
✨ The Distinctive EX Hidden Legends Reverse Holo
What makes this particular example especially appealing is its classic EX Hidden Legends Reverse Holo treatment.
Unlike the standard holographic version, this reverse holographic variant features a reflective finish across the card’s background and text areas, creating a beautiful metallic effect that complements the vivid illustration.
The artwork itself features colourful patterns and decorative details that enhance Milotic’s graceful appearance.
This card showcases several defining characteristics of the era:
- Original EX Hidden Legends Reverse Holo: A distinctive reflective treatment across the card surface creates an attractive shimmering appearance.
- Beautiful Holographic Design: The reverse holo finish complements Milotic’s colourful underwater illustration.
- Classic EX-Era Layout: The familiar yellow border, distinctive early-2000s typography, and original Nintendo-era card design capture the nostalgia of the EX Series.
- Atsuko Nishida Artwork: A stunning illustration showcasing Milotic’s elegant appearance and vibrant colouring.
- Hoenn-Region Pokémon: Milotic remains one of the most recognisable and admired Pokémon introduced during the third generation.
Unlike the set-stamped reverse holographic cards introduced in some later EX Series expansions, EX Hidden Legends reverse holos are recognised for their distinctive reflective finish without a large expansion logo stamped across the artwork.
These characteristics make them particularly appealing to collectors interested in the evolution of Pokémon’s reverse holographic designs.
